How to Crochet Technicolor Jacob's Ladder Stitch?
Sunflower Crochet Square

Jacob’s Ladder crochet stitch is really an easy and fun stitch to work with.

This crochet stitch creates a 3-D braid on top of your crochet project. With the use of different colors, you can create an amazing Technicolor effect on your work, which can look very fancy!

The technique is usually worked on top of a double crochet surface; however, it can be on top of other stitches as well. Jacob’s ladders are counted by columns, each column is separated by the double crochet stitches. You can make as many columns as you need for your project.

This is truly a pleasant crochet stitch for crocheters who want to feature something unique and fancy, but not hard to execute.

I hope you will enjoy this stitch as much as I did!

Step 4

Now it is time to connect the chain loops.

Begin at the bottom and weave the loops one by one towards the top.

When you reach the top, leave the last loop just hanging for now.

Move on to all the other columns of loops.

Once you have finished all the columns of loops, do one row of double crochet with no loops on it.

Step 5

Time to Catch the loops!

Chain 1 and turn.

In a group of 5 for this row, make 5 single crochet stitches, on the fifth stitch, catch the chain loop from behind and then finish the 5th single crochet.

Then start counting the 5 single crochet, with the first one, catch the same chain loop. Continue single crochet, and on the 5th stitch, catch the next chain loop. And on the first set of single crochet, catch the loop again.

Continue with this process until the end of the row.

Finish with one more row of double crochet.
